How a Heat Pump Water Heater Works

It works like an air conditioner in reverse. Instead of making heat, it moves heat that's already in the air into your water.

  1. Pulls in warm air

    A fan draws in the warm air around the heater.

  2. Moves the heat into the water

    The heat from that air is transferred into the water in the tank.

  3. Blows out cooler air

    Cooler air comes out the other side. A built-in backup element helps when you need a lot of hot water fast.
